WINTER ANTIQUES SHOW NAMES NEW DEALERS
NEW YORK CITY â Two new exhibitors and one returning exhibitor are joining the 2008 Winter Antiques Show, which convenes for the 54th season at the Seventh Regiment Armory January 18â27.
New among the showâs 75 specialists are Elliott & Grace Snyder and Daniel Katz Limited. Aronson Antiquairs of Amsterdam is returning after a leave of absence. John Alexander, Ltd, which stepped in on short notice in 2007, is also returning.
Antiques dealers since 1970, Elliott and Grace Snyder are known for early American furniture, mostly of New England origin; folk art; English and American ceramics, glass and textiles; English and Continental lighting; and appropriate accessories. Highlights will include a rare lignum vitae wassail bowl dated 1685. The South Egremont, Mass., dealers participated in The American Antiques Show through 2007.
The showâs other new exhibitor is Daniel Katz Limited of London. In business since 1968, Danny Katz is known internationally for medieval through Nineteenth Century European sculpture and works of art, including Renaissance bronzes, Eighteenth Century terra cotta and marble, and Nineteenth Century plaster models.
Founded in 1881, Aronson Antiquairs, which maintains a gallery in the heart of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, specializes in rare Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century Delft animals, figures, plaques, chargers and other objects. The firmâs Amsterdam gallery is also a source for Continental furniture and Chinese porcelain.
Philadelphia dealer John Alexander, Ltd, offers Reformed Gothic, Aesthetic, and Arts and Crafts design along with choice examples of Twentieth Century British handcrafted furniture and decorative arts.
Benefiting East Side House Settlement, the 2008 Winter Antiques Show previews on Thursday, January 17. Honorary chairmen for the 2008 show are Mr and Mrs Richard L. Chilton, Jr. The show sponsor is Bank of America. Alan Rappaport, New York president of Bank of America, and Pamela Fiori, editor in chief of Town & Country, are co-chairmen of the opening night party. The 2008 loan exhibition, âAn Eye Toward Perfection,â honors The Shaker Museum and Library in Old Chatham, N.Y.
