A local man was being held August 28 in Bridgeport Correctional Center on $75,000 bail following an incident at his home on the morning of August 18, which resulted in police charging him with ten criminal offenses.
Police this week said they charged Christopher Eissman, 27, of 24 Wills Road on August 18 with three counts of threatening, three counts of first-degree unlawful restraint, plus one count each of carrying a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief, and interfering with police.
Police said they received an Emergency 911 call from 24 Wills Road about 6:59 am August 18 stating that Eissman was in his parentsâ bedroom with a large knife and was threatening to harm them and himself.
Police said that when they arrived, they found Eissman in the doorway of the bedroom with the foot-long ceremonial dagger in his hand, preventing the parents from leaving the bedroom.
Police Officer Jeff Silver was able to go behind Eissman undetected and then grab Eissmanâs hand which was holding the dagger, while simultaneously using a Taser electronic stun device to stun Eissman in the back, police said.
When used as such, the Taser delivers a strong shock to the body by making direct contact with it.
After a brief struggle, police handcuffed Eissman and then arrested him, police said.
Police said Eissman was transported to Danbury Hospital for evaluation, after which he was arraigned at Danbury Superior Court.
Police said there were no injuries in the incident.
Eissman is next scheduled to appear in court on September 16.
