Chris Haylon was 2-for-3 and stole home to lead the Tigers to a 3-2 win over the Vipers in Newtown Babe Ruth Fall Ball (8/9) action. Here are the results –

Knights 4, Grandslams 1 – It was a pitcher’s duel, with only six hits allowed and 20 strikeouts recorded. Colin Morris, Andrew Kelley and Chris Tenney paced the Knights on the mound while Kyle Wilcox, Jason Marks, Travis LeBlanc and Curtis Droniak pitched the ‘Slams to the win. Tenney doubled twice to pace the Knight offense.

Athletics 2, Yellow Jackets 1 – Anders Fogelberg and Craig Fabian had key hits to lead the A’s to the win. Evan Swain made an outstanding catch in the outfield to save a run and catcher Devin DiNicola made a great throw to shortstop Matt Wielebinski to catch a runner stealing to record the final out of the game. For the Jackets, Patrick Milano and Mario Pizghelli kept the game close on defense as Sean Elliot was aggressive on the base paths.

Hawks 9, Grandslams 4 – Sean Burson’s triple helped lead the Hawks in a comeback win over the ‘Slams. Matt Pruner pitched two shutout innings to preserve the win. For the ‘Slams, Chad Magoulas, Mason West and Sean Connolly powered the offense.

Hawks 4, Tigers 2 – Tyler Gibney made a rally-stopping, backhanded catch in right field to lead the Hawks to the win. Stephen Ibanez and David Gerics combined on the mound for the win. For the Tigers, Riley Wurtz, Victor Wilson and Luke Shearin had strong games at the plate.

Hawks 19, Brookfield (#80) 2 – Eric Terhaar (2-for-2), Ryan Powers (3-for-3, double), Sean Burson (3-for-4, triple) and David Gerics (triple) fueled the Newtown offense in a convincing win over Brookfield. Tyler Gibney and Gerics pitched well and Terhaar made a shoestring catch to spark the D.

Hawks 13, Brookfield (#84) 6 – Sean Burson (two doubles), Ryan Powers (2-for-3) and Eric Terhaar (3-for-3) had the hot bats as the Hawks swooped past Brookfield. Matt Pruner tripled and Caitlin Gibney scored a key run to spark a fourth-inning rally. Ryan O’Keefe and Stephen Ibanez each tossed shutout innings.

Grandslams 5, Brookfield (#82) 3 – Sean Connolly was 3-for-3 and Chad Magoulas banged out two hits to lead the Grandslams to the win. Kyle Wilcox (catcher) and Ryan Manion were strong in the field while Jason Marks and Travis LeBlanc combined to strike out eight batters.

Grandslams 8, Bombers 5 – Curtis Droniak doubled twice and Travis LeBlanc had two hits to pace the ‘Slams. Mike Newman, Matt Spencer and Wyatt DePuy were solid in the field. For the Bombers, Gary Braun doubled and drove in two runs while Ryan Cassidy and Johnny Kerins hit the ball hard. Reid Schmidt was strong in the field and Dominick Fedak pitched well.

Vipers 7, Hawks 5 – Dan Poeltl and Tim Wilder each tripled to lead the Vipers to the win. Jack Curry and Stephen Price scored runs. For the Hawks, Seam Ashey had a nice hit while Eric Terhaar, Ryan Powers and Matt Pruner each went 2-for-3.

Tigers 22, Brookfield (#80) 5 – Riley Wurtz (double, two singles), Kevin LeBlanc (double, three singles) and Stefan Hennessey (three singles) powered the Tigers to the win.

Tigers 14, Brookfield (#83) 4 – Austin Bonadio had two hits and struck out six batters in two innings of mound work to lead the Tigers to another win. Chris Haylon collected three hits and also pitched two strong innings.

Tigers 3, Vipers 2 – Victor Wilson went 2-for-2, Austin Bonadio tripled and struck out six batters in two innings of pitching, and Chris Haylon went 2-for-3 with an RBI a steal of home (for the winning run) to lead the Tigers. Riley Wurtz also pitched well. For the Vipers, Oliver Powers doubled and scored a run and Greg Campbell singled and scored a run. Tim Wilder, Jake Tolson and Dan Poeltl pitched well.

Tigers 11, Brookfield (#81) 1 – Luke Shearin went 2-for-3, Kevin LeBlanc went 2-for-2, and Victor Wilson went 2-for-2 to lead the Tigers past Brookfield.

Eagles 10, Woodbury (#1) 5 – RJ Roman pitched three shutout innings and whiffed seven to lead the Eagles to the win. Ryan Lasher led the offense with two triples and also had a strong defensive game behind the plate. Nic Neves added an RBI hit, scored twice and had five stolen bases. Dale Neves had a strong defensive game, making a great play in a key situation.

Woodbury (#2) 6, Eagles 4 – Danny Sclafani pitched well allowing just one hit while striking out five over two innings. Adam Morehouse had two hits, including a double, and Eric Sippen added a hit, a run and two stolen bases.  Both RJ Roman and Nic Neves also had two hits each.

Black Knights 10, Gregoire 7 – Cody Williams collected four hits and Robbie Blanc banged out three hits and drove in five runs to lead the Knights to the win. Brad Biscoe and Matt Bobkowski contributed to the offensive explosion. For Gregoire, Jordie Scheiner, Ryan Korth and Shane Casey belted hits as Chris Winter tripled.

Orangemen 8, Brookfield 4 – Steve Braun stroked a two-run single to key a fourth-inning rally and lead the Orangemen to the win. Evan Barretto (three SBs, run scored) and Timmy Roberts (two SBs) helped fuel the comeback. Matt Hamilton, Braun, George Zaruba, Brandon Rosenberger and Ryan Schmidt combined on the mound for the win.
