Youth Runners Show Their Speed In Ridgefield Invitational

Newtown’s middle school/ youth cross country teams participated in the Ridgefield Invitational on Tuesday, October 20 and the boys came in second place behind Wilton and the girls, despite being without some of their top runners, finished fourth among seven teams.

Newtown’s fastest finisher in the boys’ race was Nathan Kalra who placed fourth in a time of 8:52. Brenton Scott finished fifth in 8:53, Alec Breauchemin was ninth in 9:24, Joe Whelan placed 11th in 9:33, Sam Coffey was 13th in 9:41 and Ivan Donaher placed 19th in 9:47. In the girls’ race, Newtown was paced by Molly Begg who finished 15th in 10:28. Caroline also cracked the top 20 with a 19th-place finish in 10:36.
