Meserve Memorial Fund Scholarships Awarded
BETHEL â At a recent reception at the Stony Hill Inn, 26 scholarships were awarded to area students, including Michael D. Taylor, Joseph H. Blanchard, Whitney H. Blanchard, Rachel M. Dapp, and James Kaechele, intending to pursue careers related to the environment.
Both Joseph and Whitney Blanchard are currently attending the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H. Mr Taylor is attending Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Ms Dapp is attending Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Mr Kaechele is attending SUNY College of Environmental Science in Syracuse, N.Y.
Each award was $2,500, bringing the total awarded since the inception of the scholarship program in 1983 to $626,500. The scholarships are renewable for three years.
The Meserve Memorial Fund is a legacy of the late Mr and Mrs Albert W. Meserve to support charitable organizations that support the Danbury region. The fund is administered by the Fairfield County Foundation in Wilton. The next deadline for applications is October 1.
