To the Editor:

Alison Plante is an exciting candidate for Legislative Council District 3: she’s smart and dynamic and is looking to be a fresh new voice in our town government.

Alison is raising her family here in Newtown and knows firsthand about the needs of working families. She also knows the struggles of small business owners like her husband. Her career has been in the challenging worlds of government, politics, and hedge funds, and her training and expertise is in figuring out how to solve complex problems. She knows how to move from defining the problem all the way to executing the solution. She’s calm and composed, even in the face of conflict or adversity, and is open to hearing all different points of view. We need that in this era of political polarization!

Newtown is facing some complex problems: how to keep our schools competitive; how to manage residential development in town; how to maintain the character of Fairfield Hills; and especially, how to do all of this in a fiscally responsible way. We need problem solvers on our legislative council.

Vote for Alison Plante on November 5.
