BALTIMORE, MD. â The Baltimore Museum of Art will present an artful conversation, featuring Matisse biographer Hilary Spurling on Henri Matisse, in âA Secret History,â Saturday, November 17, at 11 am.
Spurling will talk about the trials and triumphs Matisse encountered as one of the worldâs most creative minds â and the key role sculpture played in his art and his life. Spurling published The Unknown Matisse in 1998 and Matisse the Master in 2005 â deemed an Editorâs Choice book of The New York Times and winner of the 2005 Whitbread Book of the Year Award. A book signing with the author immediately follows the lecture.
