Bundle Up Those Kids!
Bundle Up Those Kids!
To the Editor:
I am appalled at the number of children I see inappropriately dressed for the weather. Each day my fourth grade son argues with me because he wants to wear shorts and a sweatshirt, which I refuse to allow unless the weather is going to reach 60 degrees. When I pull up to the schoolyard, I understand why we have this fight every morning. More than half of the children I see are wearing shorts! It is December and itâs 33 degrees today. Parents, do your job. Your grade school children need your guidance. They are not yet old enough to know better. They are depending on you.
The excuses I hear from parents are as follows: âItâs his choiceâ or âPick your battlesâ or âCold weather doesnât make you sick.â Parents, you should be making the rules here, not your children. For your information, the cold does not make you sick. Germs make you sick. However, if your body is using all itâs energy to keep you warm, there is no energy left to fight germs!
Letâs have a healthy and Happy New Year â Bundle your kids!!
