Commercial Vehicles Inspected For Safety Compliance
During a commercial vehicle inspection project held on September 21, town and state inspectors checked trucks driving through town to ensure that they complied with applicable safety regulations, police said.
Newtown Police Officer Jeff Silver and inspectors from the state Department of Motor Vehicles stopped trucks at several locations in town to learn if they were in compliance with the safety rules.
They inspected 11 trucks and found 49 trucking violations while doing so, police said. Five vehicles were temporarily put out of road service until their violations were corrected, police said.
The inspectors conducted a similar project last May.
