On August 30, the Texas Court of Appeals for the Third District in Austin ruled that Infowars host Alex Jones must pay all costs associated with an appeal filed against a parent of a Sandy Hook Elementary School victim.

Sebastian Murdock, writing for the Huffington Post, reports that Neil Heslin — whose six-year-old son, Jesse Lewis, was killed during the mass shooting — previously filed a motion of contempt in the case after the website refused to comply with a court-ordered demand to hand over internal e-mails and documents related to discussions about Sandy Hook.

According to Ryan Lindsay at NPR, lawyers for Jones did not immediately respond to requests for comment. His claims that the Sandy Hook shooting was staged led several families of Sandy Hook victims to file defamation lawsuits against Jones.

The court document states that Jones, Infowars LLC, Free Speech Systems LLC, and Owen Shroyer sought to appeal what they asserted was a denial by operation of law of their motion to dismiss the claims asserted against them by Mr Heslin.

“Because we determine there is no order from which to appeal, we dismiss the appeal for want of jurisdiction,” wrote Judge Gisela D. Triana in the court document.

Now the website will pay up in addition to handing over the information.

The NPR Report states that Jones currently has lawsuits filed against him by multiple families of Sandy Hook victims in Connecticut and Texas.

Mr Heslin’s attorney, Bill Ogden at the Houston-based firm Farrar & Ball, said the costs of the appeal process could likely total thousands of dollars.
