The Town Hall:
Is Age Really The Issue?
To the Editor:
People who work in Edmond Town Hall recently wrote that conditions were poor in the 76-year-old building. Is it possible that poor maintenance or deferred renovations and not-yet-seized opportunities to expand are more to blame than age?
The United States Capitol has served for 150 years. The White House for over 200. Both have enjoyed appropriate renovations as not even the most radical Republican insurgent would dream of moving the government from buildings that fill every American heart with a sense of place and purpose â much as Edmond Town Hall anchors historic Main Street, and Newtownersâ hearts, with a symbol of place and purpose.
