After posting $50 bail, police released Bedell for a May 13 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Sandy Hook Mishap
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Toddy Hill Road and Route 34 about 1:30 pm April 26.
Motorist William M. Smith III, 23, of Danbury, who was driving a 1991 GMC truck, was stopped at a red traffic signal on Toddy Hill Road, police said. In order to allow a tractor-trailer truck to make a left turn from westbound Route 34 onto Toddy Hill Road, Smith backed up the GMC, police said.
But in backing up, Smith backed into a stopped 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Conirose Fusco, 21, of Middlebury, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Smith a written warning for unsafe backing.
