Childrenâs Programs
*Author Visit and Book Signing: Meet author Laurie Krebs on Saturday, May 31, when she visits Booth Library for a program at 2 pm. Mrs Krebs, who was a schoolteacher for twenty years, loves to travel. Her latest book, We All Went on Safari: A Counting Journey Through Tanzania, is a result of her visit to Africa. Copies of the book will be available for purchase following the program.
*Young Adult Summer Volunteers: Young adults entering grades 6 and above who like working with children and books are an important part of the Booth Libraryâs Summer Reading Program every year. Interested students are invited to attend a workshop on Monday, June 2, from 4 to 5 pm, to learn more about the volunteer program. If you canât attend the workshop, you may pick up a packet of materials after June 1, which must be returned by June 14. Adult Programs
*Realities of Job Transition: Wayne Szmyt will give a talk on âThe Realities of Job Transition: A Bluerint for Resultsâ on Wednesday, June 18, at 7 pm. This session will offer participants a realistic perspective on the current job market and provide several valuable tools for job seekers to use as they conduct an effective job search. Please call the library if you would like to attend.
*Book Discussions at the Library: A variety of book groups meet every month at the library which are open to the public. On Tuesday, June 3, at 1 pm, D-Day by Stephen Ambrose will be discussed; Monday, June 9, at 1 pm, The Millstone by Margaret Drabble; Tuesday, June 17, at 7 pm, Marinerâs Compass by Earlene Fowler; and on Thursday, June 19, at 7:30 pm, the book will be Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.
*Computer Programs: A basic computing class with Dan Tannenbaum will be offered on Saturday, May 31, from 9 am to noon, in the meeting room. Mr Tannenbaum will also offer an intermediate class on Saturday, June 7, from 1 to 4 pm.
Pre-registation is required for either class and a $10 fee is charged for the intermediate class. Call the library for registration or more information.
*Creative Writing Group: Andrea Zimmermann is coordinating a new creative writing group which will meet for the first time on Tuesday, June 10, at 7 pm. The group is for writers of all levels who want to share their writing and ideas with others, and find support in their creative endeavors. The group is not a class, but will provide the opportunity for motivated individuals to meet regularly and share works-in-progress.
There is no charge for participating in the group. Size is limited however, so please sign up by calling the library.
Call the library at 426-4533 to register for any of its programs or for additional information. The libraryâs hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, Friday from 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. The library is closed on Sundays from June 15 to Labor Day.
