*A handful of shows are going on sale this weekend, including three this morning. Sorry… I share the news for shows and on-sales as soon as I get them. If I don’t get them earlier than the week they’re going on sale, I can’t share the announcement with you guys any sooner.

Tickets for another STONE TEMPLE PILOTS show — this one at the Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford (the other one being at Mohegan Sun Arena on May 26) — will be on sale as of 10 am Friday through LiveNation.com and TicketMaster vendors. The show will be Sunday, May 25, which gives Connecticut fans back-to-back doses, in two venues, of the reunited band. Tickets for Wallingford are $45 and $55.

A reminder STP is soliciting fan requests and suggestions for its tour song list through it’s website (StoneTemplePilots.com).

*Also on sale Friday at 10, and also coming to the Chevrolet Theatre, and also through LiveNation and TicketMaster, will be tickets for STEELY DAN. The band will be in Wallingford on Wednesday, June 25.

*Friday morning will also mark the first show from the 2008 IGA Country Megaticket to be broken out for single show sales. And ironically, it’s for the final show covered by the ticket: MARTINA McBRIDE, with Jack Ingram and Jason Michael Carroll, on September 19, at Dodge Music Center.

(The Megaticket covers admission for TIM McGRAW with Jason Aldean & Halfway to Hazard on June 8; BROOKS & DUNN with Rodney Atkins, June 21; BRAD PAISLEY with Jewel, Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough, July 24; TOBY KEITH with Montgomery Gentry, Carter’s Chord, Mica Roberts and Trailer Choir, August 10; RASCAL FLATTS with Taylor Swift, August 22; and the aforementioned Martina McBride show. The Megatickets for the pavilion are all sold out, but lawn seating Megatickets are still available for $199; visit LiveNation.com for details about those.)

Tickets for just the Martina McBride show will be available Friday morning starting at 10, through LiveNation.com or TicketMaster, at $55 for the reserved/pavilion seating and $34.25 for the lawn.

*Also this weekend, tickets for O.A.R. at the Dodge Music Center on Saturday, August 9, will be put on sale. These have been set at $35 reserved and $26 lawn, and will also be available through (are you seeing the pattern yet?) LiveNation.com and TicketMaster. Ozomatli will be opening.

*MATT MIKLUS is a working music performer and teacher in southern Connecticut, whose music will bring him into Sandy Hook this weekend. Mike will have the stage area at Mocha Coffee House on Friday, April 25, starting around 7:30 pm.

If his name sounds familiar it may be because Mike keeps busy not only teaching but also performing with the band Hubinger Street, along with a few other acoustic ensembles.

Saturday night will then see the return of INFRASONIC (née Will Lindsay) and its (his) acoustic rock with folk, new wave, blues and psychedelic. This weekend’s show, I am told, will pay homage to R.E.M.

*In the vein of “Everything 80s is New Again” comes news that AIR SUPPLY will be at the Palace Theater in Waterbury next month. Tickets are already available for the Saturday, May 31 concert, priced from $40 to $60.

The box office is at 100 East Main Street, and can be reached by calling 203-755-4700. Tickets are also available online, through PalaceTheaterCT.org.

*Tickets for another Mohegan Sun Arena show go on sale this morning (April 25). JUDAS PRIEST and HEAVEN AND HELL (Ronnie James Dio on vocals, along with Tommy Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice) will be in Uncasville on Friday, August 15. Tickets are $60 and $85, and will be available Friday through TicketMaster. If the show doesn’t sell out on Friday, tickets will also be available beginning Saturday through the casino’s box office.

*Four shows for this summer’s schedule at the Ives Concert Park in Danbury have been unveiled: LYLE LOVETT will be over there on July 1, THE BEACH BOYS return to Connecticut two nights later, MOE. will be headlining on July 6, and ANI DiFRANCO will be the headliner on July 15.

Details on these and other shows soon.

*Finally this week, two reminders: one, that Colin Hay will be headlining at The Ridgefield Playhouse on April 30 and two, there is an interview in this week’s Enjoy section done by my friend and co-editor John Voket with Mr Hay. Tickets for that show, which will include an opening set by Paula Valstein, are $40 each. Call the playhouse at 203-438-5795 or visit RidgefieldPlayhouse.org for those last-minute ticket reservations.

Actually, speaking of the Playhouse, it looks like the Battle of the Ages may have been canceled. This is the show that was to feature bands with members over age 30, to take place this Sunday in Ridgefield, but nothing new has come from the playhouse or any of the musicians I had been hearing from… so if you were planning on heading out to this show/competition Sunday afternoon, I’d just make sure to call ahead first.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
