Do Tickets Have To Be Written?
To the Editor:
While reading the police reports in Newtown, I came upon a few reports of accidents. The accidents involved cars coming down a driveway and then hitting an ice patch thereby hitting oncoming traffic.
In each case the person was cited for something about not yielding at a driveway. This is asinine. They were accidents! It was nobodyâs fault. In each case the person did not decide to enter the intersection with traffic in front of them. Why does a ticket have to written?
There was no lapse in judgment or intent to skirt the laws.
The other nonsense is a car hitting a tree to avoid a deer or dog. Heâs cited for failure to drive in the established lane, or making a restricted turn.
Am I the only one that sees how ludicrous this is?
