Run For A Cure
The seventh annual Run For A Cure 3-miler will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, at 9:30 am. The race will be held to raise money for the New Milford New York-Presbyterian Hospital Cancer Center and the Relay For Life of the American Cancer Society. There will be a $10 entry fee that can be paid that day between 7:30 and 9:15 am at the Roxbury Congregational Church on Route 317. Danbury Dream Team Hoops v Puerto Rican Pride
The Danbury Dream Team has challenged the internationally acclaimed Puerto Rican Pride hoopsters to a showdown at the Pal Athletic Center on Saturday, December 8, at 6 pm. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit Family and Childrenâs Aid, a Danbury based non-profit agency that assists the areaâs abused and disenfranchised. The voice of street basketball, Boobie Smooth, will emcee game and festivities. Coached by Ray Rivera, the Puerto Rican Pride team has been playing together for two years in the top summer pro leagues in New York as well as the annual PR Pride v Dominican Power game and the prestigious Rikers Island game. The Danbury Dream Team challengers are coached by George Anderson, former Abbott Tech point guard. The illustrious hometown squad includes E.J. Harris, member of UConnâs 1999 menâs championship team, Trevon Little and John Weir of Keane State, Casey Bock, DeWayne Dickens and Rudy McCarley of WSCU and crowd-favorite Quaney Hesser, who played with Danbury High.
