A Wonderful Fulfilling Experience
A Wonderful Fulfilling Experience
To the Editor:
On Tuesday, September 11, during the monthly C.H. Booth Library Board of Trusteesâ meeting, I announced my intent to retire as the library director effective June 30, 2013.
At that time, I will have served as director for 31 years. It has been a wonderful and fulfilling experience for me. During my tenure, the library has evolved from a small 13,000-square-foot facility where all of the daily functions were done by hand, to the modern, technologically up-to-date 36,000-square-foot library/media center we have today. While at the same time, remaining true to the vision and wishes of our benefactress, Mary Hawley.
There are so many people and organizations I would like to thank. The wonderful staff of dedicated and professional people who have served with me over the years. The many civic organizations who have contributed their time, talent, and money. The Newtown Bee which has supported the library through their advocacy feature stores and publicity. The Friends of the Library who, through their annual book sale, have worked tirelessly to provide supplemental resources that have funded equipment acquisitions and many programs benefiting the patrons of the library. The many commercial businesses who have contributed their goods and services.
Finally, to the Board of Trustees who over the years have given me guidance and support. Special thanks to Bill Lavery, Gordon Williams, Joanne Zang, and Peter Stern. Over the years they have been mentors, friends, and confidants.
Sincerely,
Janet M. Woycik, Director
