Public Meetings On STIP Project

NEWINGTON — Two informational meetings will be held at the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) on Wednesday, April 21, to provide a forum for discussion of the proposed 2005 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

At these meetings, scheduled for noon and 7 pm, the public will have an opportunity to review, comment, and discuss information regarding the STIP’s projects and programs. The forum also will provide the DOT with information about the public’s desires and concerns.

The STIP plan for 2005–2009 contains 378 projects in 28 federal funding categories. It includes $2.5 billion in federal funds, which will be matched by $1 billion in statefunds and $28 million in local funds, for a total program cost of $3.6 billion.

Copies of the draft 2005 STIP are available for review and public comment between April 7 and May 6. The document is available for review at the ConnDOT administration building at 2800 Berlin Turnpike in Newington and at each of the 15 regional planning offices. An appointment is suggested to adequately schedule all interested parties. To schedule an appointment at ConnDOT call 860-594-2045.
