Most recently the managing editor of Norwalk Citizen-News, Mr Hutchison already has seven years experience working as a community newspaper sports editor in Fairfield. He was a sports editor for Fairfield Minuteman from 1999 until 2006. He has also won several regional and national awards.

Additionally Mr Hutchison’s work has appeared in Greenwich Citizen-News, Fairfield County/Westchester Country Business Journals, Business Times, The Norwalk Hour, Darien News-Review, New Haven Register, Newark Star Ledger, Oakland Tribune, Connecticut Post, and Fairfield Citizen-News.

In addition to writing, Mr Hutchison has been a radio color commentator for three seasons for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (the inaugural 2001-02 season, also 2002-03 and 2006-07 seasons); he was the team’s director of communications during its 2006-07 season, and is a former announcer for WOWL, Southern Connecticut State University’s radio station.

He is a 1998 graduate of Southern Connecticut State University where he earned a bachelor of science degree (in 3½ years) with a major in communications and a minor in journalism.

Mr Hutchison is taking over the reins formerly held by Kim Harmon, who died suddenly in December. Like his predecessor, Mr Hutchison will be handling much of the news, feature, and photography work for The Bee’s Sports pages, along with Horse & Dog News pages. He is already familiar with many of Newtown’s teams, having covered Joel Barlow and Notre Dame-Fairfield South-West Conference games.

Mr Hutchison can be reached by calling 426-3141 or by e-mail at AndyH@thebee.com.
