Hattertown Road

Police said that motorist Kevin Comer, 42, of Shelton, who was driving a 1993 Saturn SL-2 sedan westward near 12 Hattertown Road about 8:45 am March 22, encountered a deer that had run onto the road and then collided with it. Comer was not injured in the mishap, police said.

Queen Street MVA

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the Newtown Middle School driveway at 12 Queen Street about 2:11 pm March 22.

Motorist Lydia Saravis, 45, of 15 Winding Brook Road, who was driving a 2002 Acura MDX sport-utility vehicle, was exiting the school driveway when she collided with motorist Barbara Johnson, 70, of 5 Hawleyville Road, who was driving a 2003 Buick LeSabre on Queen Street, police said.

Saravis reported shoulder pain, but refused medical attention, police said. Police issued Saravis an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.

Sheetrock Dumped

Police report that someone dumped a large amount of sheetrock onto Bancroft Road in the Riverside section sometime during the night of March 22-23. The town cleared away the mess. Police ask anyone with information on the illegal dumping to contact them at 426-5841.

Raccoon

Motorist Dianna Desances, 20, of Bridgeport was driving a 1994 Mitsubishi Galant westward on Route 34 about 5:30 am March 19, when she encountered a raccoon on the road, police said.

Desances swerved to avoid the animal, but struck a utility pole, police said. Ambulance staffers transported her to Danbury Hospital for treatment of neck and back injuries. Sandy Hook firefighters were dispatched to the accident. Police issued Desances a written warning for making a restricted turn.
