An Artistic Collaboration… With Cows, Too
An Artistic Collaborationâ¦
With Cows, Too
BETHEL â Bethel Arts Junction will present a unique artistic collaboration between painter David Duvernoy and Kathryn Kollar and Company dancers on Saturday, May 27. Between 5 and 7 pm, the presentation will take place at the Bethel Arts Junction gallery space, 5 Depot Place, in the old Bethel railroad station.
David Duvernoy was halfway through painting several landscapes for his featured artist exhibit at Bethel Arts Junction recently when he had a conversation with Ms Kollar about interpretive dancing. She invited him to watch the dancers practice the following week.
While viewing the dancersâ movements, Mr Duvernoy became so inspired by the movement and form he decided to postpone the rest of his landscape painting and focus on painting the dancers. The results of those paintings will be on display at Bethel Arts Junction from the opening on May 27 through July 1.
David Duvernoy, a former banking company executive and a former Marine, lives in Woodbury.
The Kathryn Kollar and Company dancers will perform at various times during the evening.
Also on view at the railroad building this weekend will be Tiffany and Carrie, two painted and decorated life-size fiberglass cows who will be leaving soon for New York City.
âCows On Parade New York 2000,â an outdoor summer art exhibition featuring over 500 decorated life-size cows, will open in and around Manhattan in a few weeks. Judges for the event accepted two design entries by BAJ artists from over 3,000 national submissions. Visitors may recall âChicagoâs Cows On Parade,â an extremely popular event presented last summer in The Windy City. New Yorkers will have over 500 cows on exhibit this year, and the public is invited to have a look at Bethelâs works of art before Carrie and Tiffany leave for The Big Apple.
A full feature on Bethelâs cows will appear in next weekâs Enjoy section of The Newtown Bee.
Regular gallery hours at Bethel Arts Junction are Wednesday, noon to 5 pm; and Thursday through Saturday, noon to 9 pm. For further information, call 798-2193.
