For Homeowners’ Program

The Town of Newtown Assessor’s office will begin taking applications for the State of Connecticut reimbursed Homeowners Program.

This program applies to a homeowner of record on October 1, 2004, or earlier who is either elderly (65 years or older), or totally disabled (as designated by the Social Security Administration).

Program applications are taken between February 1 and May 15 in the assessor’s office during normal business hours, 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Applicants in the year 2004 are not required to file an application each year as this state program mandates applications biannually.

Annual income limits for this program are capped at $33,000 for those whom are married and $27,100 for single individuals. Proof of income is necessary and consists of all proceeds that would be reported for federal tax purposes and any income received from Medicare premiums and/or Social Security benefits in the year 2004 that are reported on an SSA1099 form.
