89th Goshen Fair Will Be Presented Labor Day Weekend

GOSHEN — On Saturday, September 1, at 8 am the 89th Goshen Fair begins. The fair is offered by the Goshen Agricultural Society, Inc, and runs for three days, this year on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of Labor Day Weekend. Hours are 8 am to 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday; and then 8 am to 6 pm, on Monday.

The fair offers something for everyone. Exhibits include flowers, fruit, vegetables, canning, needlework and sewing, arts and crafts, photography, bakery, and a children’s department. Animals on view include dairy and beef cattle, goats, draught animals, sheep, swine, poultry, and rabbits.

Entertainment this year features the River Street Band, Stone Canyon Country Band, Shirley’s Country Line Dancing, Northwestern Concert band, all on Saturday, and on Sunday morning the Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers.

For the children, a juggler and a magician will be performing several times each day. The Laytons’ draft horse team will be giving several demonstrations each day of the fair.

There is a midway with rides and games of chance, plenty of food, and vendors showing and selling their wares.

Other events offered include, on Saturday, a draught horse show, garden tractor pull, rabbit and poultry judging, the pony draw, and a special woodcutting demonstration in the woodcutting ring.

On Sunday, junior dairy fitting and showing, swine and sheep judging, junior beef show, woodcutting contest, and horse drawing will all be featured. Monday’s highlights will include the junior and open dairy show, junior goat and oxen drawing, pork cook-off, antique tractor pull, and woodcutting contest.

The fair grounds are located on Route 63 South in Goshen. Admission is $6 for adults, with children under 12 free. On Saturday only, senior citizens admission is $4.
