Emily Rosalie Coleman

Always Active And Involved

Emily Rosalie (Bruna) Coleman, 84, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late George W. Coleman, Sr, died February 20 with her loving family at her side. She was born December 10, 1923, in Elizabeth, N.J., and had been a lifetime Stratford resident.

Survivors include her eight loving children, George W. Coleman, Jr, of Sandy Hook, Linda Lapinski and her husband, Jim, of Newtown, Carol Swanson of Ansonia, Sharon Coleman Bosse of Watertown, Marie Flynn and her husband, David, of Ansonia, who took loving care of her, John “Jack” Coleman of Stratford, Robert Coleman of Naugatuck, and Thomas Coleman and his wife, Betsy, of Stratford; ten adored grandchildren, Rochelle, Nicole, and Jeannine Bosse, Alivia and Maxwell Coleman, Brighid, Audrey, and Elizabeth Flynn, Alex Lapinski, and Corin Coleman; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Vadella; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, James Coleman.

She was a retired secretary for St Vincent’s Medical center. Mrs Coleman loved duckpin bowling, enjoyed boating and their family cottage on Lake Zoar, loved traveling with her children, and was always up for a game of tennis.

The family would like to thank Hospice at Home for their loving and tender care.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, February 23, at 9:30 am, in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10:30 am in Saint James Church, 2110 Main Street, Stratford, for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, February 22, from 4 to 8 pm.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association, 279 New Britain Avenue, Kensington CT 06037 or Hospice at Home, 84 Oxford Road, Oxford CT 06478.
