Karma Dance Project

The Karma Dance Project, which is the dance company of The Graceful Planet, will hold open auditions for ballet, jazz, hip hop and modern dancers on Friday, November 4, from 4:30 to 6 pm. The Graceful Planet Moving Arts Studio recently relocated and is now located at 7 Berkshire Road (Route 34) in Sandy Hook.

The mission of Karma Dance Project is to educate the community regarding dance and music through dance performances, lecture demonstrations in schools, and performances of classic children shows such as Peter & the Wolf. Its hope is to reach the community by participating in local events, performing in schools in the local area, outreaching in the community, and attending dance competitions.

During the auditions, dancers will have an abbreviated class and learn a combination. Dancers will be notified by mail if they are accepted into the Karma Dance Project.

A membership fee of $200, for those accepted into the dance company, includes company class and rehearsals (about 10 and 20), performance time, involvement in community fundraising events, involvement in the school system promoting the arts through performances and lecture demonstrations (selected members), participating in an outreach program to disadvantaged youth, visiting children’s hospitals and nursing homes (selected members), and attending one or two dance competitions (selected members).
