For Choral Society Scholarship
Connecticut Choral Society is offering its fourth annual scholarship award to encourage and promote young people who are singing in choruses in the area.
Public and private schools in much of Fairfield and Litchfield counties have been invited to participate. Scholarships are funded through contributions to the Connecticut Choral Societyâs Kannengeiser Scholarship Fund.
Applicants must be in 11th or 12th grade of an invited school, of which Newtown High School is one.
Choral directors are being asked to nominate three chorus members of their school to complete for this award. Application packets were mailed to the choral directors on November 20. Completed applications must be returned or postmarked by January 20.
Auditions and Interview will be held on March 31, 2001, for selected finalists. The winner of the competition will be invited to sing at the Kannengeiser Scholarship concert on May 6 at North Congregational Church in Woodbury. The scholarship will be awarded at the fund-raising event.
