Election Eyesores
Election Eyesores
To the Editor:
I have lived here all my life and have always considered it âNicer in Newtown.â During election season, we donât have to look at all those ugly political signs along all the roads, like other towns around us, because the Republicans and Democrats have had a longstanding agreement to discourage their candidates from this.
Unfortunately, the Independent Party does not go along with this and they are putting these signs up along the roads and in the town right-of-way, which is actually against town regulations. If you must be put these eyesores out because you believe seeing these signs actually influences how someone will vote, at least set them back on private property.
Also, in the interest of âtransparencyâ (I love buzz words), I am a Republican and have been executive assistant to the first selectman for 12 years, ten years with Herb Rosenthal. My husband is also a Republican and is a school bus owner/operator who contracts with the Board of Education.
Sincerely,
Jan Andras
