Scholarship Ball Provides A Night Of Magic

The 63rd Annual Scholarship Ball took place at the Heritage Inn in Southbury this year on October 21. The theme of the evening, “A Night of Magic,” provided a wandering magician with many tricks up his sleeve. There were over 100 people in attendance enjoying a sit-down dinner and dancing throughout the evening to the Bob Button Orchestra.

Guests could enjoy bidding on a silent auction filled with donated items from people throughout Newtown. When not dancing or bidding on auction items, many guests could be found in the upstairs bar trying to catch a glimpse of the World Series baseball game. Cheers could be heard from around the room as Mary Ann Murtha kept everyone updated on the score of the World Series game over the band’s microphone.

The Scholarship Ball is just one of the many ways the Newtown Scholarship Association raises money. With the support of the community and businesses, the Scholarship Association has been able to award more than $150,000 annually to deserving Newtown students, both as scholarships to June graduates and as continuing aid to undergraduate students.
