The 5 pm service will be the Children’s pageant and the 7:30 and 11 pm services will be candlelight services with the music by the Senior Choir directed by Dan Coffman. The Ringers in Faith Bell Choir play under the direction of Carole Andrews and Gale Whitford. Christmas memories will be shared by Licensed Lay Minister Edwin Corfey at the 7:30 service and by Darlene Jackson at the 11 pm service. Candle lighters will be the Walker family at the 5 pm service Miklaszewski family at 7:30 and Margee and Bob Keegan at the 11 pm service. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Danbury will hold two services on Christmas Eve at 5:30 and 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall at 24 Clapboard Ridge Road. Rev Linda Hansen, DRE Mary Collins and some of our own musicians will lead us in reflecting on the meanings of Christmas through stories (gospel and contemporary) and carols. The 5:30 service will be designated with children in mind and the 7 for adults, but all are welcome at both. On Christmas Day there will be one service at 10 am. Rev Hansen will lead a an informal service on Winter Light and Hope, looking at the different ways winter holidays — Solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa — all offer light and hope in this dark and cold time of year. Children and adults are welcome to join her, and to share some of the ways you bring light and hope into your lives and the lives of others. For the Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 7:30 pm, the Rev Ann Beams will deliver the message “Joy to the World.” The scripture lessons will be Isaiah 9:2–7 and Luke 2:1–14. After the service, there will be a Wassail bowl for fellowship and Christmas cheer with cookies and mulled cider. On Sunday, Christmas Day the worship service and communion will be at 5 pm. Rev Beams will deliver the message “The Light Shines in the Darkness.” The scripture lessons will be Isaiah 52:7-10 and John 1:14. There will be no Sunday school on Christmas day. Child care is provided during the worship services. The adult mid-week Bible study meets each Tuesday evening, 7:30-9 pm.
