Crash Kill Redding Man

A Redding man died late January 22 on Hattertown Road after the auto he was
driving struck a tree, police said.
Motorist Alexander Scott Dance, 31, of 10 Beach Lane, Redding, was driving a
1989 Lincoln northbound on a wet road in misty conditions when he came around
a left curve in the road and struck a guard rail on the right side of the
road, police said.
The auto then went across the road sideways, left the southbound road
shoulder, and struck a large tree standing about 10 feet off the road's edge,
according to police.
The middle of the car's passenger side struck the tree, causing the vehicle to
spin around the tree. Mr Dance was pinned inside the very heavily damaged car,
police said.
An assistant state's medical examiner pronounced Mr Dance dead at the scene.
Firefighters from the Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Company and the United Fire
Company of Botsford extricated his body from the wreckage, according to
police. The accident occurred near Saddle Ridge Road.
A spokeswoman for the chief state medical examiner's office said Monday an
autopsy indicated Mr Dance's accidental death was caused by multiple blunt
traumatic injuries.
Police said the accident is under investigation and they are awaiting the
results of blood toxicology tests from the medical examiner.
