Plenty To Do At CT Agricultural Expo
HARTFORD â The Fourth Annual Ag Expo will take place at the State Armory in Hartford on Saturday and Sunday, October 23 and 24. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm both days.
This special weekend event is open to the public and highlights Connecticut agricultural businesses, all under one roof. The armory is at the corner of Broad Street and Capitol Avenue. Signs are posted from I-84 Exit 48.
âPlenty to Do, Plenty to See and Plenty to Eatâ has become the byline for the Ag Expo. Over 100 booths featuring animals, food, entertainment, educational exhibits and interactive displays will celebrate Connecticut agriculture. The Food Court, surrounded by food and beverage vendors, will be patterned in a park motif, with tables and chairs available to sit and relax and enjoy the food and entertainment.
Many costumed characters will entertain continuously, including Smoky the Bear and assorted vegetable and animal characters. Entertainment for the children will feature âFarminâ Feverâ with interactive songs and skits, âThe Magic of Christopherâ and balloon sculpturing by Noodles the Clown.
âUnder The Tentâ will be an area set aside for special events, demonstrations, face painting, pumpkin painting and awards. Prizes will also be awarded for best booths in several different categories.
Stop & Shop, A&P/Waldbaums, Adams Superstores, Big Y and Shawâs Supermarkets will all feature booths with games, pumpkin painting and plenty of giveaways.
Visitors who bring a half cup of their home garden soil to UConn's Cooperative Extension booth can have it tested for free.
Admission to the Expo is $3 for adults, with children age 12 and under admitted free. Free parking in the Legislature Office Building will be available. The building is adjacent to the Armory. For additional information, contact the CT Department of Agriculture at 860/713-2503.
