Earth Day Poster Contest
The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority and Union Savings Bank are cosponsoring a childrenâs recycling poster contest in honor of Earth Day. The theme is âHow Does Recycling Help The Earth?â
Newtown students in kindergarten through the twelfth grade are eligible to enter. Posters must be 8½ by 11 inches, in any medium. Contestants should write their names, addresses, schools, grade levels, and phone numbers on the back of the poster. Entries should be submitted to Arlene Miles, the Public Works Administrator in Newtown, by February 20. Winners will be announced March 14.
Regional winners will receives savings bonds from Union Savings Bank. Local winners will receive a yellow ribbon, and have their posters displayed in their local Union Savings Bank. Each participant will be given piggy bank made from recycled yellow pages, currency, or denim. Call Ms Miles at 270-4300 for more information.
