Health Clinic Plans Gala
Kevinâs Community Center of Newtown is holding its second annual gala, âOn The Red Carpet,â at 7 pm on Friday, October 7, at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury.
Proceeds will support the health clinicâs âSeeds for the Futureâ capital building campaign.
The evening will spotlight award honorees Conrad Ehrlich, MD, of Housatonic Valley Radiological Associates, and Doug Magazu of the Danbury Office of Physician Services.
Live entertainment will be provided by an a cappella do-wop group, The Retrotones, which consists of several area doctors, and by the 99Dollar DJ Service. The gala will feature a live and silent auction stocked with dozens of donations including sports and entertainment memorabilia, gift certificates and tickets for sports and music events.
Kevinâs Community Center is a nonprofit agency that provides free medical care to those who do not have medical insurance. Staffed by volunteers including founding physician Z. Michael Taweh, it is open on Wednesday afternoons in the town offices at 31 Pecks Lane.
Since August of 2003 when the clinic originally opened at Canaan House at Fairfield Hills, Kevinâs has seen nearly 600 new patients and referred dozens more who qualify for state subsidized health care programs like Medicaid and the HUSKY initiative your children and teens.
