Jamboree A Success

To the Editor:

Newtown Rocking Roosters Square Dance Club is very grateful to all who contributed to the success of our second annual Jamboree on September 21 at Edmond Town Hall. This event, which is designed as a huge community family fun night, could not have taken place without the generous donation of time and talent by many people:

Allan Brozek and Dave Hass, wonderful teachers and exceptional callers with decades of dancing experiences between them.

Dave Akin and Bob Livingston representing Eastern style dancing.

Many outstanding professional musicians who provided a wonderful evening of dance tunes – Roger Sprung, Lou Murray, Bud Morrisrow, Lou Rosato, Betsy Rome and Theater Bob, Leo Hamel, Frank Kurtz, and Chuck Samson. Vocals were nicely rendered by Betsy Rome, Sigrid Perry, Annie Abercrombie as well as members of the band.

Local merchants who supported this annual event were Big Y and Stop & Shop Supermarkets as well as Dunkin’ Donuts of Newtown. We certainly are grateful to you for your assistance in sponsoring this event.

To all local dancers and patrons who supported us and this event for an old fashioned evening of wholesome fun, including the coverage provided by The Newtown Bee, we are truly grateful. Any potential dancers in the area are very welcome to join with us on Wednesday evenings at “The Mall” in Sand Hill Plaza. Do consider joining in the fun and camaraderie that only a wholesome activity can provide. “If you can walk – you can dance!”
