Master Chorale Announces Concert Season

The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich has announced its 2004-05 concert season.

The chorale’s annual “Holiday Prelude Concert” will be on November 21 at St Mary’s Church in Bethel. It will feature Glenn McClure’s brand new “Guadalupe Magnificat,” with steel drums, plus works by John Rutter, Joseph Martin, spirituals, Hanukkah and multi-cultural numbers, and other festive music with Holiday Brass.

Two new major works by John Rutter will be presented March 13, 2005, at St Rose of Lima in Newtown. “Mass of the Children,” a captivating composition, and “Feel the Spirit,” an appealing cycle of seven well-known spirituals culminating in a rousing arrangement of “When the Saints Go Marching In,” will be the centerpieces of the concert’s program

“Music of Great Russian Composers” will be presented as an evening concert on May 21, also at St Rose of Lima. This will include Borodin’s stirring “Polovetzian Dances” plus Russian sacred and folk songs.

The chorale will be accompanied by Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.

Now entering its sixth season, the chorale has achieved several accomplishments in it short history. In addition to singing by invitation at The White House, Carnegie Hall, West Point Military Academy and with Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, this part June the chorale was invited and performed at Madison Square Garden.

Newtown residents currently in the Master Chorale are Judy Bolduc, Ginnie Carey, Lisa Cedergren, Wendy Fong, David Jurman, Pia Ledina, Nancy Raymond, Joel Romanelli, Grant Skinner and Dan Yee.

Tickets for all concerts are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
