Mountain Bike

Police are seeking the owner of a mountain bike, which was found on November 14 at the lower parking lot behind Edmond Town Hall at 45 Main Street.

To claim the rugged bicycle, the owner should contact police at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Van Vs SUV

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the busy intersection of Berkshire Road and Toddy Hill Road about 1:30 pm November 15.

Motorist Karen Lyons, 36, of Oxford, who was driving a 2005 BMW X-5 SUV westward on Berkshire Road, stopped at a traffic signal and was waiting to turn left onto Toddy Hill Road, when the BMW was hit from behind by westbound motorist John O’Neill, 48, of Bethel, who was driving a 1992 Chevrolet Astro Van, police report.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned O’Neill for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

DUI Incident

Police report that at about 8:45 pm November 22, they spotted motorist Sara Bolles, 29, of Waterbury driving faster than the posted 25-mph speed limit on Glover Avenue, and then not come to a complete stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Glover Avenue and Queen Street.

Police said they stopped Bolles to investigate, after which they gave her field sobriety tests.

Police said they charged Bolles with driving under the influence, traveling too fast, and failure to obey a stop sign.

After posting $100 bail, police released Bolles for a December 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Five Charges

Police report that Luis Munguia, 23, of Bridgeport was involved in a domestic dispute at an Arrowhead Lane residence on the morning of November 25, after which they lodged five criminal charges against him.

Police said they arrested Munguia on charges of third-degree assault, third-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful restraint, disorderly conduct, and risk of injury to a minor.

Police said Munguia had been involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend in front of their 4-year-old child.

After Munguia left the premises, the woman reported the incident to police. Police then investigated and called Munguia, informing him to come to the police station where he was arrested.

The woman did not go to the hospital after the incident, police said.

Munguia was scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on November 26 in Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Charge

Police said that at about 8 pm on November 24, they spotted motorist Miguel Vargas, 40, of New Milford crossing the road’s centerline and shoulder line as he drove westward on Berkshire Road in Sandy Hook.

Police said they stopped Vargas to investigate, after which they charged him with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and driving without a license.

After he posted $100 bail, Vargas was released for December 6 court appearance.

Swamp Road

Motorist Daniel Xavier, 37, of Monroe was driving a 2002 Dodge southward on Swamp Road in rainy and foggy conditions about 8 pm November 21, when he failed to make a left curve in the road and crossed into the northbound lane, striking a utility pole and breaking it in half, police said.

Neither Xavier, nor a passenger, were injured, police said. Police said they issued Xavier an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

 

Jacklin Road

Motorist Michael Aric Figgs, 23, of Baltimore, Md., was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry westward on Jacklin Road about 1 pm November 22, when he swerved to avoid colliding with a vehicle, but then lost control of the Toyota on the wet road, police said.  

Police said Figgs struck some curbing and went off the left side of the road. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Figgs for traveling too fast for conditions.

Toyota Vs Deer

Police report that motorist Richard Oberle, 49, of Bethel was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry southward on Hattertown Road, near Saddle Ridge Road, on November 19, when a deer ran in front of the auto, resulting in a collision. Oberle was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Taunton Lane

Motorist Michael Iorfino, 17, of 1 Wedgewood Court was driving a 2002 Nissan Altima northward on Taunton Lane about 7:20 am November 20, when the vehicle drifted to the right, struck a tree and then came to rest on a stone wall, police said.

Neither Iorfino, nor a passenger, were injured, police said. Police gave Iorfino an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Sedan Hits Tree

Motorist Javier Alberto, 24, of Dobson, N.C., was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry westward on Berkshire Road in heavy fog at about 12:50 am November 21, when the auto went off the road and struck a tree, police said.

Alberto was not injured. Police issued Alberto a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

South Main Crash

About 7:40 am November 20, motorist Fred Duray, 71, of 141 Louis Hill Road was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus southward on South Main Street and then slowed and signaled to make a left turn into a driveway at 79 South Main Street, police said.

At that time, motorist Wendy Black, 37, of 13 Botsford Hill Road was driving a 2002 Nissan Maxima northward on South Main Street, police said.

The Ford then turned into the path of the Nissan, resulting in a collision, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Duray an infraction ticket for a right-of-way violation.

Chevrolet Vs Jeep

Motorist Rebecca Trosan, 16, of Birch Hill Road was driving a 1998 Chevrolet station wagon southward on South Main Street and was preparing to make a left turn into a gas station at 151 South Main Street at about 12:20 pm November 21, police said.

At that time, motorist Abel Rodrigues, 54, of Waterbury was driving a 2002 Jeep SUV northward there, police said.

As the Chevrolet attempted to make the left turn, the two vehicles collided. Ambulance staffers transported Rodrigues to Danbury Hospital to be checked for possible neck injuries, police said.

Trosan received an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn, police said.

Warrant

Police said they arrested David Waite, 32, of 21 Hall Lane on a warrant on November 26, lodging charges of second-degree failure to appear in court and also of issuing a bad check. Police said Waite had failed to appear in court on November 15 in connection with a previous charge of issuing a bad check. After he posted $1,000 bail, police released Waite for a December 4 court appearance.

Concorde Crash

On November 21, motorist Justin Torres, 22, of 54 Platts Hill Road was driving a 2000 Chrysler Concorde southward on Taunton Lane, when he failed to stop at a stop sign at that road’s intersection with Taunton Hill Road, police said.

Torres then drove across both lanes of Taunton Hill Road, went off the street and collided with a stone wall, police said.

Torres was not injured. Police issued him an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions and for failure to obey a stop sign.

Drug Charges

Police said they spotted a 1997 Ford Escort being driven erratically southward on Wasserman Way about 12:30 pm November 15, so they stopped it to investigate.

Police said that their search of motorist Benjamin Johanson, 20, of Shelton and the vehicle turned up some heroin.

Police arrested Johanson on charges of driving with a suspended license, possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 After he posted $500 bail, police released Johanson for a November 26 court appearance.

Disorderly

Police report that they were called to the residence of Joseph Gargano, 33, of 42 Currituck Road about 10:40 am November 20, because Gargano was allegedly intoxicated and considering leaving the residence in his vehicle.

 Police said Gargano became belligerent, after which they charged him with disorderly conduct. Gargano signed a written promise to appear in court on December 4, police said.

Timepiece

On November 15, a person found a wristwatch in the area of Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street, after which they turned over the watch to police for safekeeping. The owner may claim the watch at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Ring Of Keys

On November 23, a person turned over to police a set of keys that was found lying on the ground at the intersection of Still Hill Road and Sherman Street in Sandy Hook.

That set of keys includes a key to an Audi automobile, as well as two house keys.

The owner of the keys should contact police to claim them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Saturn Sky Hits Tree

Police report that at about 12:30 pm November 20, motorist Joseph Boisvert, 43, of Southbury, who was driving a 2007 Saturn Sky two-seat convertible sports car northward on Hawleyville Road, lost control of the auto and then collided with a tree alongside the road.

After the crash, Boisvert left the scene of the accident before police arrived, police said.

Police said it took them six days to make contact with Boisvert to investigate the accident. Boisvert refused to provide a written statement on what occurred in the accident, police said.

Police gave Boisvert an infraction ticket for driving an unregistered vehicle and for making a restricted turn.

Cadillac Vs Ford

Motorist Jonathan Goodspeed, 48, of 3 Crabapple Lane, who was driving a 2002 Ford Escape SUV southward on South Main Street about 1:30 pm November 27, stopped in order to make a left turn onto Simm Lane, after which the Ford was struck from behind by southbound motorist Earl Wood, 68, of 1 Wills Road, who was driving a 2000 Cadillac Seville, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Wood a written warning for following too closely.

DUI Arrest

Police report that at about 4 am on November 25, motorist Caitlynn Peters, 20, of New Milford was driving a 1994 Dodge sedan eastward on Plumtrees Road, after which she drove through a stop sign at the intersection with Taunton Hill Road, drove across that street and then struck a rock and a drainage catch basin.

Ambulance volunteers responded to the scene to check Peters for injuries, after which she refused medical attention, police said.

After investigating, police charged Peters with driving under the influence, possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to obey a stop sign.

After posting $100 bail, Peters was released for a December 6 court appearance.
