KIDS BOOKS REVIEW: The Adventures Of The Animorphs

--By Bee Book Reviewer

Andrew Jackson Lynch

"My name is Jake. That's my first name, obviously. I can't tell you my last

name. It would be too dangerous. The controllers are everywhere.

Everywhere.

And if they knew my full name, they could find me and my friends, and then...

well, let's just say I don't want them to find me. What they do to people who

resist them is too horrible to think about."

Thus begins the Animorphs series by K. Applegate. This 24-book series is about

five teenagers who have the misfortune of having walked through an abandoned

construction site when a dying Andalite Prince's ship crashes and he gives

them the power to morph. The books tell of their adventures fighting the

yeerks.

The books are The Invasion, The Visitor, The Encounter, The Message, The

Predator, The Capture, The Stranger, The Alien, The Secret, The Android, The

Forgotten, The Reaction, The Change, The Unknown, The Escape, The Warning, The

Underground, The Decision, The Departure, The Discovery, The Threat, The

Andalite Chronicles, and Megamorphs 1 and 2.

Now I'll introduce you to the gang. First, there's Jake. The animorphs

consider him their leader, although he denies it. His brother, Tom, is a

controller. Then there is Cassie. She is the tree hugger. She helps her father

at their barn which is a clinic. Next is Rachel, also known as XENA by Marco.

Rachel is the adventurous one. Marco thinks she is crazy. The funny one of the

group is Marco. He always is the one to complain, or say a wise crack. Then

there is Tobias. He lives in the trees surrounding a meadow that is his turf.

He is a Nothlit, that's what you call a person trapped in a morph. Tobias is a

red tailed hawk. Last is Aximili-esgoruth-isthill. He's an Andalite. They

created the morphing technology.

If you want to learn more, read the series at your local bookstore.
