Three Garner Inmates Arrested In Separate Incidents
State police report that they arrested three inmates following separate incidents at Garner Correctional Institution, the stateâs high-security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road.
State police said they arrested Garner inmate Juan Sanes, 42, on a charge of possession of a weapon in a correctional institution on the night of January 21. State police said Sanes was found to be in possession of a homemade weapon.
Sanes was scheduled to be arraigned on the charge on January 22 in Danbury Superior Court.
Sanes is serving a two-year sentence in Garner on a violation of probation conviction.
On the night of January 18, state police arrested inmate Daniel W. Torres, 21, on multiple charges. State police said Torres assaulted and threatened state Department of Correction (DOC) workers.
Charges filed against Torres include assault on a DOC worker, third-degree assault, threatening, and refusal to be fingerprinted. Torres was scheduled to be arraigned in court on January 19.
Torres is an unsentenced inmate who is being held at Garner on a pending charge of first-degree failure to appear in court.
Also, on the morning of January 18, state police arrested Garner inmate Gene Hilton, 36, on charges of threatening and refusal to be fingerprinted. State police said that Hilton had made a threat against a correction officer.
Hilton was scheduled to be arraigned in court on January 19. Hilton is serving a six-month sentence in Garner on a conviction for possession of narcotics.
