An Evening Of Classical Pops, Volume 2
CLINTON â After the overwhelming response to Amber Edwards and Patrick Bradyâs standing-room-only concert last summer, the George Flynn Classical Concerts series is bringing them back for two performances this season at Andrews Memorial Hall. The musicians are in Clinton this weekend, performing on Saturday, July 24, at 7 pm, and Sunday, July 25, at 4 pm.
âAn Evening of Classical Pops â Volume 2â will feature classic songs by Berlin, Porter, and Gershwin, plus some surprising undiscovered treasures. Itâs a fast-paced, warm-hearted show combining great music, comedy, emotion, and theatrical smarts.
âVolume 2â will be a different show than last yearâs, with a dozen new numbers. The performers promise plenty of familiar love songs and heart-tugging ballads, comic stunts and sight gags, plus their signature finale, âThe Mother of All Medleys,â a brilliant compilation of 58 songs in nine minutes which never fails to bring down the house.
The performances will also celebrate a 20-year friendship, founded on a mutual passion for musical theater. Amber Edwards and Patrick Brady began singing together in 1982, when they were doing summer stock in Keene, N.H. Since then, Ms Edwards, a Yale graduate, has become an award-winning filmmaker and broadcaster.
Mr Brady, meanwhile, is one of Broadwayâs most sought-after conductors and arrangers. He is currently music director and cocal arranger for The Producers, as well as musical supervisor of all the national and international companies.
âAn Evening of Classical Pops, Volume 2â is a free concert but tickets are required; call 860-669-1208.
