Volvo Vs BMW

Police report a two-car collision on Church Hill Road about 7:20 am November 1.

Eastbound motorist Ronald Martino, 42, of 19 Mountain Manor Road, who was driving a 2007 BMW 530-XI, slowed to a stop due to traffic conditions, police said.

Eastbound motorist Emily Loose, 17, of 7 Arthur’s Court, who was driving a 2006 Volvo S-40, then struck the rear end of the BMW, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Loose for failure to keep a reasonable distance apart.

Ford Ranger

Motorist Bobby Farris, 53, of Southbury was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck westward on Church Hill Road, near Dayton Street, about 6:40 am November 5, when a deer ran onto the street in front of the Ford, resulting in a collision, police said.

Farris was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Honda Pilot

Motorist Joan Plouffe, 43, of 9 Sturges Road was driving a 2006 Honda Pilot SUV westward on Sugar Street, near Drummers Lane, about 6:30 pm October 31, when a deer came out of the woods and went onto the road, police said.

After the SUV and the deer collided, the animal ran off into the woods, police said. Neither Plouffe, nor four passengers, were injured. All people were seatbelted. Police took no enforcement.

SUV Vs SUV

Police report an accident involving two sport-utility vehicles at the Main Street parking area in front of Newtown General Store about 3:50 pm October 30.

The accident involved motorist Cindy Cullen, 50, of Monroe, who was driving a 2006 Honda CRV, and motorist Joyce Losito, 48, of Watertown, who was driving a 2005 Ford Escape, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Cullen an infraction ticket for driving without a license.

Hawleyville Crash

A two-vehicle accident occurred about 7:45 am November 6, during the morning rush, at the end of westbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 off-ramp in Hawleyville.

Police said motorist Stefanie Kreipovich, 24, of Manchester, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Express van, came off the off-ramp without yielding the right-of-way to motorist Maryann Csire, 61, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla northward on Hawleyville Road. The two vehicles collided. Firefighters and an ambulance crew responded to the accident.

Csire reported pain due to injuries received in the crash, police said. Kreipovich received an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.

Graffiti

Sometime between 3 pm October 26 and 3:30 pm October 31, someone sprayed blue paint on a walkway and a deck at a Far View Road residence, defacing those objects, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on the vandalism to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.

Town Truck

Midday on November 2, truck driver Paul Martin, 66, of Brookfield went to the police station to report to police an accident that had occurred while he was driving a town-owned 2003 Ford dump truck on South Main Street, police said.

Martin told police that he was driving the town truck southward on South Main Street when he attempted to pass on the right a southbound 1995 Toyota Tercel that was stopped and was attempting to make a left turn into a commercial driveway.

As the truck passed the Toyota on the right, the truck’s tailgate damaged the Toyota’s right exterior rear-view mirror, police said. There were no injuries.

Police said Martin told them that the Toyota’s driver did not want to wait for police to investigate the accident and then drove away. Martin provided police with information on the Toyota, after which police unsuccessfully attempted to reach the Toyota’s owner, who is listed as living in Sandy Hook.

Police verbally warned Martin for improper passing.

Transfer Station

Police report an accident involving a town truck and an automobile at the town’s waste transfer station on Ethan Allen Road late on the morning of November 2.

Police said the collision involved motorist Richard Ciardi, 63, of 17 Housatonic Drive, who was driving a 1996 Saturn SC-2, and town truck driver John O’Hara, 59, of Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a town-owned 2000 Ford F-350 pickup truck. 

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Church Hill Collision

Police report a two-vehicle collision near 34 Church Hill Road on the morning of November 6.

Following the accident, each of the two motorists involved in it went to the police station and provided conflicting versions of what had occurred, police said.

The accident involved motorist Joseph McGillicuddy, 51, of Southbury, who was driving a 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-240 sedan, and motorist Karl Sieling, 45, of 22 Chestnut Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Bad Checks

Police report they charged James Henry, 40, of Norwalk on a warrant on November 5, lodging two counts of issuing a bad check. After processing the case, police released him on a written promise to appear November 20 in Danbury Superior Court.
