Winter Concerts Resume Next Week

Each year students in the Newtown Public School’s Music Department tighten strings, tune instruments, and ready vocal chords for winter concerts. While a number of concerts have already been presented for this year’s holiday season, an equal number of groups have yet to perform.

Concerts are free of charge and open to the community.

The following is a listing of the remaining groups and their performance plans:

*Monday, January 9: The Reed Intermediate School 5th & 6th Grade Global Music & Chorus and Newtown Middle School Grade 7 Global Music Group will perform at Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road, beginning at 7 pm (snow date is January 23);

*Tuesday, January 10: Reed and NMS 5th, 6th & 7th Grade Orchestra Concert, also at the high school, beginning at 7 pm (snow date January 17);

*Wednesday, January 18: Reed and NMS 6th & 7th Grade Symphonic Band Concert, 7 pm, at the high school (snow date January 25);

*Thursday, January 19: Reed 5th Grade Band Concert, at Reed School, 3 Trades Lane, 7 pm (snow date Feb. 1);

*Tuesday, January 24, Hawley 4th Grade Chorus Concert, at Hawley School, 29 Church Hill Road, 7 pm (snow date January 31); and

*Middle Gate 4th Grade Chorus Concert, at Reed School, 7 pm (snow date February 2).
