Fees Payable To Principal’s Office;

‘Noises Off!’ Delayed To January

By Larissa Lytwyn

Newtown High School’s $40 flat fee issued earlier this month for students participating in extracurricular activities will be handled through Principal Bill Manfredonia’s office.

“This way it lifts the burden from advisors,” Mr Manfredonia explained. Payments can be delivered directly to the principal’s office. Club members who paid their $40 prior to the school board’s flat fee decision are exempt from paying additional money.

Despite the payment snafus, Mr Manfredonia said that the clubs are generally up and operating.

One exception, however, is the student-directed fall play Noises Off! Drama Club advisor Tom Swetts’ bout with pneumonia has delayed production until January.

In the meantime, Mr Manfredonia said, next month’s holiday concert schedule should keep the school’s auditorium frequently — and fully — occupied.
