Hawleyville Mishap

Motorist Maura Ferraz, 40, of Danbury, who was driving a 2003 Ford Focus sedan southward on Hawleyville Road about 3 pm December 21, stopped and was waiting to make a left turn onto eastbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 on-ramp, when the Ford was struck from behind by southbound motorist Yoshiji Akiyama, 55, of Danbury, who was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan minivan, police report.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Ford passenger Bruna Metckee, 18, of Danbury to Danbury Hospital to be checked for injuries, police said. Police issued Akiyama an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
