Newtown Womanâs Club Scholarships Available
Scholarships are again being offered by Newtown Womanâs Club GFWC, Inc, to women who are currently enrolled in either an undergraduate or masterâs program. The applicant must have completed at least two years of college with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
There is a November 10 deadline for requesting an application for the following statewide scholarships:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Phipps Memorial Scholarship, which was created in 1926 to help deserving students further their education.
The Dorothy E. Schoelzel Scholarship, first awarded in 1967 to assist women in the field of education to continue their academic career at accredited institutions.
The Waterbury Womenâs Club Scholarship, created in 1979 to assist deserving students to further their education in working with disabled children.
The Wesleyan Writers Conference Scholarship that is awarded to a woman who has a major interest in writing. The conference, rated nationally in the top three for writers, provides participants a week to study with famous writers, meet publishers and editors, and work on their own writing skills. The program includes fiction writing, poetry, literary nonfiction, and memoir, among other genres.
