Smart Too! Art Classes To Start July 9

Smart Too! is a new summer enrichment program for students in grades six through ten who want a more in-depth exploration of their own artistic abilities. Professional artists Dennis Best, Leyla Nichols, and Jon Miller will teach the program.

There were will be several courses to choose from. They include:

Art Journals – Make a personal journal using a variety of media. Meant to visually express personal ideas and explore the possibilities of graphics and fine arts.

Pottery – In this basic pottery and ceramic design class, the emphasis will be on both hand building and wheel techniques. Learn basic glazing techniques as well as more creative designs.

Watercolors – Basic exercises of watercolors such as flat washes, dry brush, and wet on wet will be explored. Work from still life, photos, and your imagination.

The Drawing Process – Take a creative journey in drawing. In this mentally challenging class, students will improve their drawing skills, using the process of drawing large shape to small shape and loose detail to tight detail.

The Temperature of Color – Through the medium of pastels, Mr Best will focus on how to use basic color theory to achieve the desired affect.
