CAMPUS NOTES

Jennifer Francesca Ratzing has been named a Presidential Scholar at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Penn. The Presidential Scholarship, established in 1993, is a merit-based award offered to high-achieving students in Franklin & Marshall’s applicant pool. Scholars receive a $7,500 tuition scholarship, renewable for each of three subsequent years at the college. Jennifer will begin classes at Franklin & Marshall this fall.

Army Pvt Matthew G. Manto, son of Nancy Crofoot, has graduated from the light-wheel vehicle mechanic advanced individual training (AIT) course at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Matthew was trained to perform maintenance, troubleshoot and repair wheeled vehicles and related components, including suspension systems, internal combustion engines, hydraulic brake and steering systems, and more. He also learned how to operate a wheeled vehicle crane. Matthew is a 2001 graduate of Newtown High School.

Melanie Murphy was named to the Spring 2003 Director of Athletics Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.
