*B.B. KING is also getting ready already to return to Connecticut, only his visit is a few months away. The king of blues will be at Stamford’s Palace Theater on Thursday, January 10, as part of the theater’s “Legends” series. *Another event that has been retooled in response to the September 11 attacks on our country is the “Come Together”/JOHN LENNON tribute concert originally planned for October 9 at Radio City Music Hall. The concert date has been pulled back one week to October 2, and now the event will be broadcast live on TNT and The WB (which is another change right there — the concert was originally going to be taped and rebroadcast at a later date), sort of the smaller networks’ response to the phenomenal telephone last Friday (the best part of that show: it’s a tossup between U2’s performance of “Peace On Earth” and CELINE DION’s goosebump-inducing, awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping performance of “God Bless America”). Showtime is 8 pm, and the event is now being called “come together: a night for John Lennon’s words & music, dedicated to New York City and its people.”

Among the artists already promised to the event are MARC ANTHONY, NELLY FURTADO, THE ISLEY BROTHERS, CYNDI LAUPER, SHELBY LYNNE, DAVE MATTHEWS, MOBY, ALANIS MORISSETTE, LOU REED, SEAL, and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. DAVE STEWART is serving as musical director, and KEVIN SPACEY is going to be the host.

According to a press release from Turner Network Television: “In light of [September 11’s] tragic events, Yoko Ono Lennon, Ken Ehrlich and TNT felt it was appropriate to move our Lennon tribute to October 2,” said Steve Koonin, the executive vice president and general manager of TNT. “In addition, the event, originally planed as a benefit for a non-violent world, will now also support the vital efforts of the New York City relief organizations.”

“The appropriateness of John Lennon’s words, message and music is even more timely now,” said Mr Ehrlich, the co-executive producer of “come together.” “New York City identified and shared a mutual love affair with John and Yoko, and now more than ever, that unbreakable bond grows even stronger in this time of healing.”

*Tickets have gone on sale for THE B-52’S at Foxwoods Casino on October 26, and a non-Halloween show by ALICE COOPER four nights later. Tickets have also gone on sale (yahoo!)for MELISSA ETHERIDGE’s unprecedented three-night run at The Palace in New Haven, October 15-17.

The MAXWELL show scheduled for October 17 at the Oakdale in Wallingford has been rescheduled for October 27.

*Tickets are going on sale next weekend for AEROSMITH’s return to Connecticut. The band will be part of the casino’s ongoing celebration of the grand opening of part one of its $1 billion expansion, Casino in the Sky. Aerosmith’s gig will be on November 19.

*At Toad’s Place, the OYSTERHEAD show scheduled for September 14 has been postponed indefinitely. If you were one of the lucky few to get ticket for that show, hang on to them for the time being.

As of September 25, a new date for JOHN MELLENCAMP’s show, which was to be the season-ender at The Meadows in Hartford, has yet to be announced.

Tickets have been selling out left and right for the recently-added new dates for U2’s Elevation Tour. Unfortunately Bono and the boys aren’t scheduled to be back in Connecticut yet, but three regional venues have tickets going on sale next weekend. For die-hard fans, tickets go on sale September 29 for an October 30 date at Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, R.I., and then ticket are going on sale October 1 for an October 24 show at Madison Square Garden and an October 28 show at Continental Arena in East Rutherford (formerly the Meadowlands, I believe). Shows in Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles (both shows there) Montreal, Philadelphia and Salt Lake City have all sold out already.
