Lions Mustang Raffle Rolling Toward Final Stretch

Members of Newtown Lions Club have been seen selling tickets for its 17th annual Classic Mustang Raffle at numerous car shows, antique shows, and community events throughout Connecticut for months.

The raffle is the biggest and most successful fundraising activity annually for the Newtown club. Last year’s raffle raised more than $50,000 for blindness prevention programs, juvenile diabetes, cancer and heart disease research, and numerous local charities and projects.

This year’s car is a rare light blue 1966 convertible with a white top and two-tone blue with white upholstery highlights interior. The car features the Pony interior, a V-8 engine, automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, and a power top. It also features sport wheels and chrome trim, and is in great mechanical condition.

Tickets are $10 each and are available from any Lions Club member or at Amaral Motors and numerous other businesses around town. The raffle drawing will be held October 18 at Newtown Middle School. The winner does not have to be present to win.

For additional information contact Lions Club member Walt Schweikert, 426-8732.
