Womenâs Center Offers New,
Ongoing Support Groups
DANBURY â Women Thriving will be an ongoing weekly group that meets Monday afternoons for those who can benefit from support around relationship issues, including dealing with controlling behaviors, verbal or physical abuse, or transitioning out of relationships.
The Womenâs Center provides free and confidential services to prevent or lessen the trauma associated with domestic violence, sexual assault, and other major life transitions to thousands of women, children, and men annually.
The programs of the Womenâs Center are supported by state and local government, area United Way agencies and the people and businesses in the communities served, including Newtown.
Other continuing Womenâs Center support groups include:
Breaking the Silence â an ongoing group for adult survivors of any form of sexual assault that meets weekly.
SOAR (Survivors Overcoming Abusive Relationships) â an ongoing weekly group for victims of domestic violence or intimate partner abuse, including emotional, verbal, economic, and/or physical.
Voices of Courage â an ongoing weekly group for male adult survivors of any form of sexual assault. All support groups are free and confidential. Registration is required; call 203-731-5200 for more information and/or to sign up. Visit wcogd.org for more information about the agency.
