Newtown Shell Hornets 9, Ridgefield Two 5 â With every player reaching base at least once, all of the Hornets contributed to the teamâs third straight victory at Ridgefieldâs Playground Field Saturday. Stefan Hennessey had a two-run hit in a four-run first inning. Connor Blanc crushed a long double to left-center that scored Hennessey and then stole third base. Ben Stoller drove him in by smacking a sacrifice fly to deep right field. Kyle Wilcox struck out six batters in two shutout innings before the Hornets pulled away. After Mac Morlock drilled a single to left and Harry Snellback walked, John Hampford laced an RBI double.

Newtown Noyes Ryder Rangers 20, Brookfield One 1 â The Rangers unleashed a 21-hit barrage, led by Mike Lengel (5-for-5, two doubles), Stephen Conway (4-for-4), Nick Barreto (4-for-5, triple), Gary Braun (3-for-4) and Mike Scharfenberg (2-for-4, double). Jon Hull also chipped in a double. The Rangers ended the game by turning a rare 6-3-5 double-play â Barreto-to-Hull-to-Dan Gustafson, who slapped down the tag on a startled Brookfield runner sliding into third. Braun and Troy Larsen pitched well in relief.
Brookfield Two 4, Newtown Five Guys 0 â Pitcher David Gerics hurled three shutout innings and struck out four batters in three innings. Teammate Joe Davis rapped two hits.
Newtown Five Guys 23, Ridgefield One 5 â Newtownâs offense was led by Joe Davis (4 hits, 4 RBIs), Wyatt Depuy (3 hits, 4 RBIs), and Matt Spencer (3 hits, 3 RBIs). Davis, Eric Sutton, and Jeff Grasso pitched well.
Newtown Bombers 13, Stamford Blue Jays 5 â Powered by a pair of long stand-up doubles off the bat of Mike Lengel, Newtownâs 13U all-stars cruised to a 13-5 victory at Stamfordâs  Cubeta Stadium.  Nick Barreto rapped a pair of hits, reached base five times and scored four runs. Relievers Joe Davis and David Gerics allowed only two runs and a pair of hits over the final four frames.
Newtown Shell Hornets 14, Newtown Noyes Ryder Rangers 2 â The Hornets scored five first-inning runs with two outs and cruised at Walnut Tree Field in Sandy Hook. Stefan Hennessey singled, Ben Stoller walked and Chris Tenney slashed an RBI single. Chris Robinson walked, Connor Blanc crushed a 2-RBI double to left-center.
 The Rangers scored a first-inning run when Ryan Daignault singled to right, stole second and eventually scored. Another long double by Blanc and single by Mac Morlock led to two more Hornets runs in the third. The Hornets scored seven more runs in the next inning, when four batters reached on walks and two on errors. Nicky Sajovic smacked a 2-RBI double to right, Harry Snellback slapped an RBI single and Morlock knocked in a run on a grounder. Other hits in the big inning were singles by John Hampford and Hennesey.
 Wilcox, Tyler Gibney and Hennessey each threw a shutout inning. The Rangers scored their second in the fifth inning when Mike Scharfenberg singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on an error by the catcher.

 Newtown Shell Hornets 6, Ridgefield Five 2 â Led by Chris Robinsonâs two hits and five innings of shutout pitching by Kyle Wilcox, Stefan Hennessey, Chris Tenney and Connor Blanc, the Hornets earned the win. Down 1-0, the Hornets rallied for 4 fourth-inning runs. Robinson ripped an RBI single, and Ben Stoller knocked in a run with a hard-hit ball mishandled by the Ridgefield shortstop. Hennessey also contributed a key single, and Hennessey, Blanc and Stoller stole second and scored. Wilcox struck out five batters in two innings on the mound, and catcher Blanc ended a Ridgefield threat by gunning out a base stealer at second with a runner on third and two outs in the second inning.
Newtown Noyes-Ryder Rangers 14, Ridgefield Two 7 â The Rangers rallied late to overcome a five-run deficit in a 14-7 opening-game victory in Ridgefield. Nick Barretto, Jon Hull, Mike Scharfenberg and Mario Pizaghelli scored a pair of runs apiece, and Ryan Daignault and Dan Gustafson rifled a couple of hard base hits. Strong relief pitching from lefty Troy Larsen and Scharfenberg held Ridgefield to two runs over the last four innings.

Onex 10, AFA Sales 1 â Ricky Kerins had two key doubles for Onex, and Connor Noonan hit a three run home run to lead the offense. Max Lopez had two put-outs in the field to lead the defense. Wilder Carnes saved an extra base hit by staying in front of a hard hit line drive. Grant Ricketts of AFA Sales led the offense with 3 hits, and Garrison Buzzanca and Greg Horne contributed with one hit apiece. Dan Harrison made a diving catch in right field. Solid defense was also provided by Colin Dutt behind the plate, David Vallerie and Jacob Moore. Buzzanca, Zach Bergeron, Ricketts and Horne all pitched well in the losing effort.

Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital 2, BW Retail Real Estate 0 âMarcus Elken, Darryl Silverlieb and Colton Smith pitched shutout innings. Steven Tramontozzi and Jack Lago played well to help seal the victory for the Rubber Duckies.
Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital 6, The Benchwarmers 2 âJack Lago, Max Rucinski and Colton Smith pitched well. Lane Kummer, Malcolm Dance, and Troy Frangione helped seal the victory with outstanding defensive plays. Frangione and Smith added 2 hits a piece for the Rubber Duckies.

Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital 2, BW Retail Real Estate 0 â Jim Parker, Greg Grasso and Will Swain pitched well for BW. Brennan OâSullivan and Joey Topolski had outstanding games in the field.
Cyberdoorman.com 10, BW Retail Real Estate 8 â Will Swain and Matt Wood had multiple hit games to lead BW. Swain also had an outstanding catch in center field on a drive off the bat of Charlie Huegi. Forest Speed and Matt Mitchel scored 2 runs apiece.
BW Retail Real Estate 11, Newtown Mobil 4 â Forest Speed and Will Swain had multiple hit games and Matt Wood and Jim Parker each had 2 run doubles to lead BW. Justin Carello had a solid day at the plate and in the field for BW
10 YEAR OLD
Turner Construction 10 vs Pat McCinnis 9 â Turner Construction scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the victory. Trevor Palmer singled and moved to third on an error and Julia Monaco drove him in with the winning run. Nick Randle led the Turner offense with a single and a triple. Timmy Pritchett chipped in with a big hit and solid defense behind the plate. For Pat McCinnis, Sam Czel had a two run triple. Holden Turk, Tyler Fiorilla and Kevin Finnegan had base hits with runs batted in. Sam Czel and Kyle McGrath pitched two scoreless innings each.
Turner Construction 11, Dina 3 â Dave Matthews spearheaded the Turner offense with a triple and home run. Justin Tran, playing in his rookie season, recorded his first career hit. Nick Samuelson, Joey Carrino and Albert Dean each singled, played solid defense and pitched a scoreless inning. Julia Monaco kept her hitting streak alive with a single and also pitched a scoreless inning. For Dina, Sydney Dimartino led off with a walk, Matt Elias ripped a single Matt Hess hit a key double down the right field line to score Dimartino and Elias. Later in the inning, David Anderson put the ball in play to score Hess.
BABE RUTH - 10 YEAR OLD
Studio Green 9, Richâs Keys & Locks 5 â Michael Parker and Andrew Craigin each had a triple and single to lead the Studio Green offense. Daniel Humala and Glen daMota had key singles and Michael Ziluck ignited a four-run rally by leading off with a walk. Joe Duero and Jaret DeVellis combined to pitch three scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Stephen Brittin led Richâs Keys & Locks with 2 hits, and Matt Ingwersen knocked in a run with a single. Jack Procacini pitched two strong innings and Tim Vander Have made two nice catches in center field.
Studio Green 9, The Gamers 8 â Studio Green was led offensively by Jaret DeVellis, Andrew Craigin, Michael Parker, and Joe Duero who combined for 2 triples, 2 doubles, 2 singles, 4 walks and 7 runs scored. Michael Ziluck and Daniel Hamala each had singles and Michael OâKeefe stole a base and scored a key run. Michael Doyle led the Gamersâ offense with 2 singles and 2 runs scored. Joe Santella crushed a double to right center and Paul OâLeary and Mason Melillo joined in the hitting each with a single.
10YEAR OLD
Richâs Keys & Locks 7, Sale Pepeâs 6 âNathan Wutzke and Jeremy Salaris came up with key hits in the win. In the field, Shawn McCarthy and Matthew Ingwersen played well, and Stephen Brittin threw out a base runner attempting to steal. Liam Palilla pitched two strong innings. Tim Krapf of Sale Pepe pitched 2 shutout innings and had 2 hits, including a double. James Accousti had a hit and walk and scored two runs. Aiden Petershack had an RBI single.

Richâs Keys & Locks 18, The Gamers 15 â The bats came alive early in the second game of a double header. Jack Procacini, Tim VanderHave, Jeremy Salaris, Justin Appeley and Declan Sullivan all had hits. On the mound, Jack Procacini threw hard and consistently for two innings and Declan Sullivan closed out the game. In the field, Justin Appeley made two nice plays at third, and Tim VanderHave caught a well-hit line drive to center to close out the game. Mason Melillo led the hitting for the Gamers with 4 singles, 4 runs scored and 3 RBI. Michael Doyle had a pair of singles and three runs scored, Ethan Carpenter hit a home run and had 4 RBI, and James Leuci, Devin Peterson and Paul OâLeary all had hits. Tony Leonardi reached base and scored key runs. Joey Santella and Patrick Briscoe played well on defense. James âLeuceâ Leuci and Michael Doyle pitched well.

Attorney Greg LaDestro 12 - Bad News Bears 4 â Owen Samson, Jamie Cochrane and Ryan Shaw had big hits for Attorney Greg LaDestro. Cochrane also pitched well.
Attorney Greg LaDestro 8, Raymond James Financial 3 â Sean Ferris contributed with two hits and Ryan Shaw, Jamie Cochrane and Owen Samson pitched well for Attorney Greg LaDestro.
Onex 12 Benchmark, Research Group 9 â Tim LeBlanc, Matt St. Jean and Adam Robertson led the offense with 2 hits each and a combined 7 runs. Matt Gerics and Tim LeBlanc pitched well and allowed just two runs in three innings.
Onex 9, Mobil One Lube Express 5 â Vijay Makayee, Matt Gerics and Clint Stergue powered the offense with a combined 6 hits and 5 runs. Tim LeBlanc and Matt St. Jean pitched scoreless innings. Mobil One struggled early but scored 5 in the fifth on hits by Daniel Pearson, Gavin Stubbs and Sam Duffy. Justin Dunn and Michael Meyer both pitched scoreless innings.
Onex 13, Bad News Bears 7 â Matt Kretz, Vijay Makayee, Dylan Solano and Adam Robertson provided the offensive fireworks with a combined 8 runs scored. Matt Gerics and Matt St. Jean pitched well and allowed only two runs in three innings.
Red Baron Carpet 11, Fiorella Insurance Group 9 â It was a tight game throughout with Red Baron Carpet coming out victorious behind strong hitting by Jack Moulder who was 4-for-4 with 6 RBI. Kelland Chrystie picked up the save by pitching a scoreless last inning. He was also 2-for-2. Chris Blanco was 2-for-3.
Burrell and Winans 11, The Bad News Bears 1 â Spencer Johnson hit a two-run homerun and collected two additional hits lead Burrell and Winans. Matthew Campbell, Tucker Kistner and Dylan Tyrrell each contributed with two hits, and Jeffrey Collins made good contact to help pace the offense. Defensively, Campbell and Tyrrell combined for three innings of no-hit, pitching and nine strikeouts.
Burrell and Winans 10, Benchmark Research Group 4 â Matthew Carino went 3-for-3 and scored three runs led Burrell and Winans. Austin Carfi and Dylan Tyrrell helped pace the offense by collecting hits. Defensively, Tucker Kistner caught a pop-up and Spencer Johnson made two unassisted put-outs at first base and caught a pop-up to start an inning ending double play. Peter Winans pitched well in two innings of work.
BABE RUTH 11 YEAR OLD
Mobil 1 Lube Express 4, The Benchwarmers 3 â The Lubers won their first game of the season. Nick Carozza and Matt Janco played well in the field. Josh Krapf pitched a solid third inning and Mark Dowling closed the game with a strong final inning. Nick Cagganello went 3-for-3 for the Benchwarmers.
Mobil 1 Lube Express 4, Newtown Mobil 2 âThe Lubers won their second straight game and were led by the solid defensive play of Carter Priolo and Jason Ferrari. Victor Vasquez and Julian Dunn each struck out two batters each over two innings. Jake Reed hit a clutch single in the fourth inning to drive in Devon Padilla for the insurance run.
Mobil 1 Lube Express 9, Cyrberdoorman.com 2 â The Lubers continued their winning ways with their third consecutive win. Julian Dunn went 3-for-3 with three triples and two RBI. Dunn, Carter Priolo, and Victor Vasquez commanded the game while on the mound and held their opponents to four hits and three walks.

Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital 9, Fairfield County Irrigation 2 â Troy Frangione had three hits and pitched two strong innings. Pitchers Darryl Silverleib and Colton Smith combined to close out the game. Max Rucinski and Jimmy Widmann played great defense to seal the victory. Kevin Liniger had a single, double and one RBI, and Nick Eisele and Scott Kelley played well in the field for Fairfield County Irrigation.
